Our Strategic Approach
Over the long term, UMORD Sudan seeks to strengthen and transform people and communities in need. In the coming years, our programming will focus primarily on promoting sustainable livelihoods for conflict-affected populations through interventions that support both new and traditional livelihoods.
- Increase access to educational opportunities for children, youth and illiterate adults
- Improve access to WASH services critical to good health outcomes
- Promote household understanding of nutrition and health practices
- Enhance community capacity to overcome conflict and external shocks
- Transition communities from emergency response to recovery and development
Geographic Focus
The organization's geographic focus continues to be in Khartoum and the Darfur region, specifically East Darfur State across nine localities. UMORD is actively seeking to expand operations to other states as resources and partnerships permit.
Dual Approach: Relief and Development
UMORD assists communities in transitioning from emergency response to recovery while maintaining the capacity to provide life-saving assistance to new IDPs, returnees, and refugees as needs arise.
